When does the journey begin?

For me, the journey begins when I make the decision to undertake the expedition. Until then, it is only a thought or a dream that, if I do not take any action, will evaporate.

After having made a decision, I then must start research. The route, the weather, the timing, and determining what equipment I will need. I love this photograph taken on the Ucayali River because it shows some of the equipment I took to survive six months on the river. Today I found myself washing and inspecting some of this same equipment for my next upcoming adventure the CT.
